Ready, Set, Sell!

Note: Please submit a ticket to Help@inscribedigital.com anytime you submit a new print title. Include the Title, ISBN and release date so your liaison can work with the appropriate teams to activate your title. 

Pre-order Timeline

1 year (max): Design front cover image jpg. Log into your INdemand Console and select your print materials and confirm printing costs and retail list price. Ensure you have a unique print ISBN. Then upload cover jpg and metadata to go be sent to retailers. Please submit a ticket to Help@inscribedigital.com notifying your liaison to the new title. 

5 months: Have manuscript copyedited and proofread. Services available through INscribe. 

4 months: Send source files for conversion to print ready PDF 

3 months: Design full wrap cover PDF. Make sure to include bar code and pricing on the back cover. 

10 weeks: Final Files--full cover wrap and interior PDFs--need to be uploaded to your INdemand console

9 weeks: You can now place a direct order for author copies at cost.

8 weeks: Any pre-orders placed by retailers and wholesalers will be ordered from the printer

6 weeks: Pre-orders will be shipped to retailer warehouses in anticipation of your launch date 

5 weeks: Last chance to change your publication date! After this time your pub date is locked at retailers.

Standard Go-Live Timeline

4 months: Have manuscript copyedited and proofread. Services available through INscribe.

9 weeks: Send source files for conversion to print ready PDF. Ensure you have a unique print ISBN.

7 weeks: Design front cover jpg and full wrap cover PDF. Make sure to include bar code and pricing on the back cover. 

6 weeks: Upload final files–interior file pdf, full wrap cover pdf, front cover jpg--and metadata to the INdemand console. If final files delivered after five weeks, your publication date will be pushed out by 21-30 days at retailers.

5 weeks: You can now place a direct order for author copies at cost.

Additional Information

Direct Orders  

Once a Direct Order quote is approved, you can expect the following delivery times for your POD Direct Purchase Orders:

2-4 weeks: paperback

Standard ground shipping applied. 

Any higher volume orders of 1,000 units or over can be produced using off-set printing at reduced unit cost. Timelines will vary for off-set.

Metadata Updates

Metadata updates must be submitted by Wednesday of a given week in order for changes to be reflected on retailer sites the following week.

Updates will appear at retailers 7-10 days following submission.
