Reminder New and Upcoming Retailers: bookshout! and Ingram
In the next few weeks, INscribe will add bookshout! and Ingram to INscribe's retailer list.
If you do NOT wish us to distribute to bookshout! and Ingram, please let us know by Friday, May 12 by emailing [email protected] or placing a ticket at help.inscribedigital.com.
You must also opt out of these services individually in your metadata. An updated spreadsheet will be provided to coincide with the launch. If you have retailer restrictions in your contract and would like to expand, please let us know as well.
If you do not respond by the above deadline and do not have a contract that limits distribution, we will automatically begin sending your content to bookshout! and Ingram when we officially launch later in May.
Retailer Information:
bookshout! is an elegant reading app, eBook store, & the world’s leader in bulk eBook sales. The BookShout reading app works on nearly all devices including iPhones, iPads, Android devices, Kindle Fire HD, Nook HD/HD+ and the web.
bookshout! has two primary business models, the bookstore and bulk sales.
-
Bookstore: single unit sales to customers
- Royalties from the bookstore are 70% minus INscribe's rate.
-
Bulk Sales: special sales deals (free or discounted) on bulk purchase options of 2,500 copies or less. These work as redemption codes and royalties are paid off the DLP rather than customer price:
- 5-99 units 45% royalty)
- 100-2500 40% royalty
- 2500+ negotiated by deal
Ingram CoreSource is a fulfillment platform, sourcing content to 35 smaller vendors for niche audiences. Royalties of single eBook sales are 50% minus INscribe rev share.

Google Play: Taiwan
Beginning May 1, 2017, due to a change in Value Added Tax (VAT) laws in Taiwan (TW), Google will be responsible for determining, charging, and remitting a 5 percent VAT on Google Play Books purchases by customers in Taiwan.
This change applies to all paid books purchases made by customers in Taiwan, even if your business is not located in Taiwan.
No action is required on your part. However, this change may affect your earnings on sales to customers in TW, as follows:
-
Tax exclusive prices: If you provide tax exclusive prices for TW, your revenue share for sales in TW will not change, because revenue share has always been calculated on a tax exclusive basis. However, customers will need to pay the tax, and so the effective price of your books will increase.
-
Tax inclusive prices: If you provide tax inclusive prices for TW, your revenue for sales in TW will decrease by roughly 5 percent, as we will deduct the 5 percent VAT from the List Price before calculating the revenue share.

Tip of the Week
Apple Tickets
Title Casing is critical for avoiding Apple Tickets! This means ensuring you have proper casing and no full caps in the title or subtitle in your metadata.
In general, Apple requires that title, subtitle, and author name all match exactly what is on your cover.
Correct: This is an Example of Proper Title Casing Incorrect: THIS IS AN EXAMPLE OF INCORRECT TITLE CASING
