Welcome Ana Szaky!

We are very excited to announce a new Client Services Representative for INscribe, Ana Szaky!

Ana attended UC Davis and graduated with a degree in Communications. She is currently living in Oakland, CA. When not in the office, you might find Ana at yoga, eating cheese, or hanging out in the backyard with her chickens (aka The Ladies). She also enjoys hiking, especially when it ends with a cold beer.

Ana will be managing our children's exclusive publishing accounts. She will be sending out emails later this week introducing herself to those of you who will be working with Ana going forward. Feel free to reach out and welcome her to the family!

New Retailers: Odilo & Kortext

In the next few weeks, INscribe will add Odilo and Kortext to INscribe's retailer list.

If you do NOT wish us to distribute to either retailer, please let us know by Friday, September 29 by emailing help@inscribedigital.com or placing a ticket at help.inscribedigital.com. You can also opt out of these services individually in your metadata. An updated spreadsheet will be provided to coincide with the launch. If you have retailer restrictions in your contract and would like to expand, please let us know as well.

If you do not respond by the above deadline, and do not have a contract that limits distribution, we will automatically begin sending your content to Odilo and Kortext when we officially launch later in October.

• Google Play Cyber Week, 11/22-11/28  Huge deals on top titles of the year, all genres, adult, YA and kids. Nominations due 10/20.
• Google Play Holiday Romance Sale, 11/28-12/14  Sale on winter/holiday-themed romance titles. Nominations due 11/3.
• Google Play Holiday Deals, 11/28-12/21  Sale on top-selling winter/holiday-themed titles all genres, adult, YA and kids. Nominations due 11/3.

IBPA Benjamin Franklin Awards

It's that time of year again! Have you mailed in your books for the prestigious IBPA Benjamin Franklin Award™ program, which includes fifty-five categories recognizing excellence in book editorial and design? If not, there's still time.

The initial Call for Entries deadline is September 30, 2017. Don't delay! The IBPA Benjamin Franklin Award™ program is regarded as one of the highest national honors in independent and self-publishing. The Awards are unique in that entrants receive direct feedback on their submissions. The judging forms are returned to all publishers.

Publishers of print books with a copyright date of 2017 may enter the competition. Each entry is judged by three independent judges. Each judge will have either a design focus or an editorial focus. Most entries are assigned two editorial judges and one design judge. Some entries, however, like those in the “Interior Design” category, will be assigned only design judges and some entries, like those in the “Best New Voice” category, will be assigned only editorial judges.

To assist the judges and ensure they have enough time to review each book, there are two entry deadlines:

• September 30, 2017 (for books published in the first nine months of the year)
• December 15, 2017

Tip of the Week

BookBub Price Campaigns

If you are awarded a BookBub, you must submit a price campaign sheet.

Follow these instructions to ensure you don't lose your coveted BookBub deal!

• Set the start date for the campaign at least 1-2 business days in advance of the Bookbub date. Keep an eye on the discount those first days to allow yourself time to resolve any issues at retailers before the Bookbub start.
• You must call out each territory separately in your price campaign sheet. Many retailers will convert your price to local currency if not provided, which could result in the incorrect price for non-US territories.
  • For example: 0.99 USD may convert to 1.49 GBP (VAT inclusive), 1.37 CAD, 1.35 AUD, or 1.12 EUR (VAT inclusive). If you need 0.99 for all currencies, you will need to call out each currency separately, taking VAT tax into account for the GBP and EUR prices. For 0.99 GBP / EUR, we recommend using 0.79 GBP and 0.82 EUR.
  • We recommend using vatcalconline.com to help calculate your pricing.
