Athena Tutorial - How To Download the Bulk Metadata Sheet
Modified on: Mon, Mar 16, 2020 at 6:33 AM
With Athena, you can easily update your title metadata by downloading the Bulk Metadata Sheet from the existing title record.
Log into your Athena account here using the username and password your liaison provided. If you don't have a username and password, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Once logged in, you'll be taken to the Products Catalog page. From here, navigate to the title you'd like to update. The easiest way to do this is by searching for the ISBN. Select the Identifier button in the top left, then enter the ISBN(s) you'd like to view and click Apply. You can also search by Publisher, Form and State.
After the title(s) load, go into the title record by clicking the cover image (Note: If a cover image isn't shown, this means one hasn't been uploaded for your title yet, but you should still be able to click into the title record). You'll be taken to the General information page for the title. Select the Assets button in the upper right corner.
Next, select the ONIX file in the list of assets. Then select the green Export Bulk Selected button in the bottom right corner.
The Bulk Metadata Sheet will download to your computer in a zip folder. Open the folder to access the excel sheet. From here, you can update any of the existing metadata for your title and reupload the file to Athena or via the FTP. Please take a look at our Metadata Instructions & Best Practices and File Naming Convention articles for more information.
To Download the Bulk Metadata Sheet for Multiple Titles
Once logged in, select Assets from the Catalog dropdown.
From here, use the Filter option in the upper right corner to pull up the ISBNs you'd like to include on the Bulk Metadata sheet. You can enter multiple ISBNs separated by commas or spaces and select 'Apply.'
Once your titles load, select the check box in the upper left corner to select all titles. Then, click the green Export Bulk Selected button in the bottom right corner.
